Graduation
After a year of planning, then returning to University and studying hard for four years, the day is finally here.
Today the School of Computing students of the University of Dundee will graduate, spreading their wings and heading out into the big, wide world. I've been awarded a first class honours degree which is the best result I could have wished for. I've certainly put my heart and soul into my work for the last four years, and I'm so happy it has paid off.
I've also found that the experience has changed me personally, from a 9-5 employee with fears for the future into a skilled, confident person with ambitions and hopes I'd never have considered previously. Beyond University, I'm still involved with my private clients and external interests and, to add to it all, I'm also currently part of an entrepreneurship programme with the Abertay University trying to launch my own company with a fellow class mate. So, no time to get bored!
However, for today at least, time to put all my other commitments aside and reflect on my achievements. It's been an amazing and fulfilling four years. There's been the usual ups and downs but, overall, the best years of my life...to date. I can't wait to find out what's around the next corner!
To all my fellow class mates, good luck today, and all the very best for the future.
